And this happened yesterday. Two of my brothers and their kids joined my family for an afternoon of laughter and fun. A good time was had by all. This will most definitely be an annual event…
So spring is upon us, and there’s no better way to welcome the season than to change things up.
My recognition of this came from an unexpected direction. I had been using the same teaching background for my classes for about eight months when I was suddenly gripped by a desire to create something new. So it was off to the Dollar Tree to find some inexpensive accoutrements to redesign my display.
But this is not about the outcome of my redesign, but about change in general. Spring is a wonderful time to renew because the world around us is doing just that. My daughter, Sammy, and I recently saw two baby Sandhill Cranes wandering with their parents. They were so fresh and downright adorable that it made me take pause to appreciate new beginnings.
So whether it’s rethinking a background, cleaning a closet, redecorating a room, or trying a new lipstick shade, go for it! Spring is here, so change it up…
Whether it’s Maren Morris, Taylor Swift, or one of The Chainsmokers, the iHeartRADIO Music Awards 2019 was all about the sparkle…
One element I love about this type of award show, is there are far fewer rules of fashion that are a must follow. The standout trend of the night to me was the sequins. They covered outfits from head to toe and made for a shimmery red carpet.
This is in sync with the direction of fashion. Sequins are in and made the top ten list of fashion elements for Fall 2019 according to Glamour magazine. But let’s face it…When aren’t sequins in?
So I’d like to introduce my new obsession…Designer Hester Sunshine. I stumbled upon her while catching an episode of this season’s Project Runway. My eye immediately went to Hester as I scanned the crowd of competing designers. Her look was bold and interesting. Some people imply a clown connection…I totally disagree (clowns scare me), as she has something more special to offer.
Hester started her career as a child designing dolls for her friends and then graduated to selling them ensembles. After studying at Parsons School of Design and Central Saint Martins in London, she designed ready-to-wear, accessories, and even costumes. Her design credentials include working with Betsey Johnson, Kate Spade, Coach, and a variety of private labels.
She was tapped for Season 17 of Project Runway on Bravo. I’ll be keeping an eye on her…
So it seems I’ve been writing about handbags quite a bit lately. There’s a reason…plenty of news surrounding them.
My latest bag installment addresses something seen for the last couple of seasons…the tiny handbag. This season they are apparently getting even smaller…
Priced at $345 – $795, these Jacquemus micro bags can’t even hold a lipstick. You might fit some aspirin and a breath mint if you’re lucky. So why carry them?
