So last night was one of those nights. I tossed, I turned, I tossed, I turned, but quality sleep somehow eluded me.
Here’s where it gets weird…There was absolutely no reason I should have had such a rough night. I’m physically well, I’m not worried about anything, I had no dietary changes, there were no schedule changes, and I kept to my sleep routine.
But I did make one mistake. According to the National Sleep Foundation, staying in bed when you cannot sleep is not your best option.
“If you get into bed and cannot fall asleep after 20 minutes, get up and return to another space in the house to do a relaxing activity, such as reading or listening to music. Lying in bed awake can create an unhealthy link between your sleeping environment and wakefulness. Instead, you want your bed to conjure sleepy thoughts and feelings only.”

So I plan to add this strategy to my bag of tricks. Sleep well and…
Stay groovy…
