So today is the Preakness Stakes, and just like with the Kentucky Derby, Stef and I will be watching. The money is not just in the races though. The big money is in the breeding of horses.
A horse such as American Pharoah can earn his owners tens of millions of dollars in a brief period of time, perhaps just a couple of months. You see a winning stallion, can have a stud fee of $100,000- $200,000 and could breed four times a day, resulting in hundreds of potential champion foals.
Imagine that…A horse doesn’t have to win every race to be a big winner in the long run. Which horse will be the big earner today?
