I remember when growing up, if Mom forgot something at the grocery store, she would send the kids to go pick up the wayward item. We would walk down to the corner store which was about a mile away. Now this was not a neon lit 7-Eleven like we have today. It was a very small country store selling only the essentials. The weird thing is that there was no concern or fear sending us down the road. We knew not to walk into the street. We arrived at our corner store safe and sound, were polite to the shopkeeper, paid for the needed product, and walked back home. Nowadays you would not think about sending the kids on such an excursion. But it was a different time…a simpler time…
Stay groovy…
